The Biography of Steven Zalewski, Esq., Managing Attorney

I have extensive experience in criminal defense and representing the rights of those accused of crimes. My experience both as a criminal defense attorney and a bail bond agent provides me with unique insights into the criminal justice system. I was present in Albany when the discovery legislation as being formulated and participated in discussions about its value to those accused of crime. I continue to have discussion with the Governor’s office and the Legislature about bail reform and discovery.

 

My background in business and business operation of multiple office locations provides me with the specific expertise necessary to fill this position.

 

I also was responsible for all interactions with courts, defense attorneys and prosecutors as the owner of the bail bond company.

I represent clients in both civil and criminal matters on behalf of the firm. I also prepare motions and briefs in both local and Appellate courts on behalf of the firm.

As managing attorney, I am also responsible for overseeing all staff and the business operations of the firm

  • I was directly responsible for the establishment and business plan of the company. Thru careful planning and strategic purchases, the
    company grew from one office to the largest bail bond company in New York State. At its apex we maintained offices in every major city in the State.
  • I was responsible for operational review of our offices. This included weekly and monthly inventory and financial review.
  • I was responsible for preparing weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to our underwriter’s compliance department.
  • I handled all Department of Financial Services reporting and inquiries.
  • I worked directly with lobbyist and state legislators on all issues relating to the bail bond industry including drafting proposed legislation.
  • Direct, plan, or implement policies, objectives, or activities of organizations or businesses to ensure continuing operations increase productivity.
  • Prepare budgets for approval, including those for funding or implementation of programs.
  • Review and analyze legislation, laws, and public policy, and recommend changes to promote and support interests of the company.
  • Direct human resources activities, including the approval of human resource plans or activities, the selection of directors or other high-level staff or establishment or organization of major departments.
  • Interpret and explain policies, rules, regulations, or laws to organizations, government or corporate officials, or individuals.
  • Make presentations to legislative or other government committees regarding policies, programs, or budgets.
  • Coordinate the development or implementation of budgetary control systems, record keeping systems, or other administrative control processes.
  • Attend and participate in meetings of municipal councils or council committees.
  • Deliver speeches, write articles, or present information at meetings or conventions to promote services, exchange ideas, or accomplish objectives.
  • Prepare bylaws approved by elected officials and ensure that bylaws are enforced.
